Linear vs. Non-linear
My first reaction when I saw that we had both a linear and a non-linear PowerPoint due was... what's the point? It's the same technology and the idea is the same. Now that I've done both, I really see that they are two totally different projects and how each one can be useful for our classroom in the future. I really enjoyed the non-linear PowerPoint much more than I ever thought. While I will probably use the more traditional linear PowerPoint for lectures and class discussion, I can clearly see myself using the non-linear version when I want my students to be more hands on. They are both a nice skill to have for any classroom teacher.

I totally agree with you Mark about the huge difference between linear and non-linear powerpoints. I actually really enjoyed doing the non-linear powerpoint more than the linear one. I found really cool to jump around from slide to slide rather than going in a row. I am warming up to the whole powerpoint thing, at first I hated it!
I agree about PowerPoints. I see myself using the more traditional version more often. However, after viewing the class's PPs, it seems that the linear could be more effective. As Mark said, it's more interactive. Also, it covers more content. However, one thing that's troublesome about it is how can you get 25 different students on it all at once? They'd have to be in a computer lab. Is there any other way to have a class utilize a Non Linear PP all at once without reserving computer lab space?
I think that it is more fun for everyone to participate in a non- linear PowerPoint. It is more fun to make and more fun to use. It is more fun to use because it is not so dry that you have to go from slide to slide. Each student can pick where they want to start and finish.
